As such, Obsidian is “not working on” a new Fallout game right now.
“I don’t know when that is, I don’t have a date of my retirement.
It’s funny–you’re able to say I’m already 52, or only 52.
It’s one of those two, depending on the day.
My hope is that’ll happen, but we’ll have to wait and see.”
Obsidian was a private company until 2018 when Microsoft acquired the studio.
Microsoft later bought ZeniMax, which owns Bethesda, so now Obsidian and Fallout are under the same roof.
This could suggest Obsidian may have an easier road to making a Fallout game, but nothing is confirmed.
Josh Sawyer, who directed 2010’s Fallout: New Vegas, also recently discussed the series.
