Sword Art Online Platinum Collector’s Edition

If you’re unfamiliar with the series, Sword Art Online started life as a series of web novels by Reki Kawahara that ran from 2002-2008, with light novels arriving in 2009.

That’s right, the books below are proper novels of Sword Art Online, but printed in a more luxurious and high-quality format.

The light novel series focuses on several virtual worlds set within the titular Sword Art Online game that can be accessed with virtual reality hardware like NerveGear.

Unlike real VR gear like theMeta Quest 3orSony’s PSVR 2, these headsets provide a more stimulating sense of immersion that’s almost indistinguishable from reality.

This is pretty cool tech for MMORPG fans, but pretty terrible if an enigmatic mastermind traps 10,000 players within that virtual world and tells them that they’ll die if they make a run at exit before they conquer all 100 floors of a dungeon that’s teeming with deadly monsters.
