The Super Mario Bros. Movie from Minions studio Illumination and Nintendo is soaring at the box office.
Through its first five days, the movie has earnedmore than $377 million worldwide.
That’s enough to make it the sixth highest-grossing video game movie of all time.
Again, the movie needed only five days to reach that level and set that record.
For comparison, the highest-grossing video game movie all time is Warcraft, which earned $439 million worldwide.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is now the highest-grossing video game movie of all time domestically.
The previous record-holder was Sonic the Hedgehog 2 ($190.5 million).
The movie also has amighty A rating on CinemaScore.
Charles Martinet, who voices Mario in the games, hasmultiple roles in the movie.
