Nintendo is poised for a payday.
Nintendo owns the license and worked out a deal with animation studio Illumination to develop and distribute the movie.
The exact terms of the deal have not been made public, however.
(1 billion yen equals about $7.4 million USD).
The movie could also be sold to airlines and Nintendo should make money from its merchandise, too.
There are many forms of ancillary revenue for a movie once it leaves theaters.
As for Nintendo’s own earnings,the company recently reported big new Switch sales numbers.
