Michael Mann’s prequel-sequel novel to the 1995 classic for the big screen will also become a film.

“I could delude myself into thinking that the whole world is familiar with it,” said Mann.
People are still watching it, people are still talking about it.
Its kind of a Heat universe, in a way.
And that certainly justifies a very large ambitious movie.
The director’s most recent film is 2015’s Blackhat.
This year, he directed the first episode of the 2022 crime series Tokyo Vice for HBO Max.
Production has also recently started on Mann’s upcoming film Ferrari, starring Adam Driver and Penelope Cruz.
